Vanguard Communications Exec Foster Appointed School Board President

Vanguard Communications ( announced that Brenda K. Foster, the firm’s vice president of account services, has been elected chair of the Manassas Park City School Board. Foster, a 19-year employee of the D.C.-based public relations and social marketing firm, has served as vice chair of the board since 2009.

“Manassas Park has been my home for more than a decade, and I’m incredibly proud to live in a city where residents care so deeply about the quality of their schools,” said Foster. “I’m grateful for this opportunity to lead our talented, dedicated board in increasing educational opportunities for all of our students.”

Foster first became involved with the Manassas Park City School system as a Brownie leader when her daughter was in elementary school. In her new role, Foster will lead the board, composed of five individuals, to effectively manage education resources, encourage other parents to get involved with the school system and help ensure that all students receive a high-quality education and are supported to achieve their full potential.

“For almost 20 years, I’ve seen Brenda walk the walk for social change to address some of our country’s most critical issues, especially those directly affecting the health and well-being of youth and families,” said Vanguard President Maria Rodriguez. “It’s not surprising to see her apply the same dedication and fierce determination in her local community; she is an energizing force, and I know she’ll work tirelessly to ensure access to the best education possible for the youth and families of Manassas Park.”
