Public Relations Society of America-River Cities Chapter Formed

Communications professionals in the West Virginia Tri-State area now have a professional organization of their own to call home. The Public Relations Society of America-River Cities Chapter was formed in December 2015.

Terry L. Hapney Jr., Ph.D., associate professor of public relations at Marshall University and president of PRSA-River Cities, has a nearly three-decade career in public relations and media in Huntington, Ashland, Ironton and Portsmouth. He said PRSA offers great opportunities for public relations, marketing, advertising, media, business and other communications professionals to meet and share their successes in strategic communications efforts, the Herald-Dispatch reports.

The chapter is officially recognized by the national Public Relations Society of America organization, as well as PRSA-East Central District, comprised of Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Western and Northwestern Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Kentucky.

The group had its first meeting on Jan. 15. in Ashland.
