Michael Ann Thomas Joins APCO Worldwide as Technology Practice Chair for North America

Michael Ann Thomas, former Edelman executive who led the firm’s Health Technology offering, has joined APCO Worldwide as Technology Practice chairwoman for North America. Thomas is responsible for all Technology Practice strategy and execution for North America, expanding and evolving APCO’s global technology presence.

“Today traditional enterprises are technology-enabled companies that want to provide immersive experiences, across devices and environments, for consumers and businesses. This has led to a deluge of new services, solutions and applications,” said Nelson Fernandez, Chairman, North America, APCO. “Michael has inimitable forethought and understands this great demand on businesses, to provide better precision, personalization and efficiency. And, she’s proven in her ability to build businesses, with the tenacity to expand APCO’s Technology Practice, across North America.”

“The West Coast serves as an incubator for transformative businesses; Michael has partnered with many of them,” said Maggie Brown, executive director of APCO’s Seattle office. “Her ability to understand very technical disciplines, and at the same time, deconstruct complex business, societal and political issues, give her a unique edge as a client strategist. Under her leadership, APCO is well positioned to keep counsel sharp and evolve its regional portfolio.”

Thomas has a deep understanding of the agency world, having spent time with large and boutique marketing and communications firms across the country. While with Edelman, Thomas displayed an impressive track record in new business, focusing on organic growth with existing clients and growing the practice portfolio with new clients and team members. Thomas has counseled FORTUNE 500 clients to high-tech and health technology start-ups.

“APCO’s rich history in issues management aligns well with the transformation we’re seeing today across businesses in every vertical, as they defend and evolve their brands,” said Thomas. “I am excited to continue building from this DNA, helping our clients articulate their unique value proposition and compete on new standards. We have a strong bench of seasoned subject matter experts here at APCO, across North America and abroad, who will support this effort.”
