Adam Welsh, a long-time government relations and corporate communications expert, returned to APCO Worldwide as managing director of the firm’s Singapore office. Welsh has lived and worked in Asia for more than 15 years, having worked previously for APCO throughout the region.
“We are ecstatic to have Adam stepping in as managing director in Singapore,” said Garry Walsh, APCO’s managing director for Southeast Asia. “Having worked with Adam for years now, I have seen first-hand his commitment to clients, expert knowledge of the region and the many facets of public affairs and communications and embodiment of APCO’s values. I can confidently say that no one is better suited to run our Singapore office as we continue our growth in Southeast Asia.”
Welsh has managed large stakeholder and policy communications projects for governments and government agencies across the Southeast Asian region, including the Aceh Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Agency and the Ministry of Finance in Indonesia.
He also managed government relations and communications campaigns for multinational companies in Southeast and North Asia for clients that span across multiple sectors, including pharmaceutical companies, extractive industries and fast-moving consumer goods.
“Adam represents everything that APCO stands for: deep global perspective, understanding of policy communications and a drive to create change on a global level on behalf of our clients,” said Margery Kraus, founder and executive chairman of APCO Worldwide. “His expertise in both the public and private sectors of Southeast Asia makes him an invaluable member of our team.”
Prior to re-joining APCO, Welsh was Asia head of market entry and government relations for a cloud-software company. In that role, he opened new markets and created policy change to create new sales opportunities from Australia to Japan and in Southeast Asia.
A former journalist who has worked for publications in the United States and Europe, Welsh also has a strong media and government engagement background.
“I’m thrilled to continue my APCO career in this new capacity,” said Welsh. “My ability to develop within this organization speaks volumes to its own growth and success. I look forward to further cultivating our practice in Singapore and Southeast Asia, and using our arsenal of tools to deliver the best results for our clients.”
Welsh joins a distinguished group of experts in APCO’s Southeast Asia offices including:
- Laurens Jan Brinkhorst, former EU ambassador to Japan
