The road to sustainability has been plagued with roadblocks, including an unprecedented global financial crisis and attempts by entrenched business and political interests to deny climate...

Electric-car marketers are figuring out that it takes more than just emancipation from villainous foreign oil to move their products. At last, one EV manufacturer is focusing on one of the major things that consumers are genuinely looking for in an alt-energy vehicle (besides lower prices) — an easy-to-use charging mechanism that drivers don't have to break a sweat over. Nissan is reportedly working on a system that will allow Leaf drivers to toss out their cables and simply park over an induction-charging mat that creates a wireless connection to the electric vehicle's on-board charger. Eighty percent of residents living near nuclear energy facilities favor the use of nuclear energy as one way to provide electricity in the United States — and half of them "strongly favored" the use of nuclear energy, compared to 11 percent who were "strongly opposed," according to new research by Bisconti Research and Quest Global Research Group. In addition, Americans believe that companies that operate nuclear energy facilities are taking appropriate safety measures and are prepared for the most severe events that could impact U.S. reactors, the study found. The accident at Japan's Fukushima Daiichi plant in March had little impact on the public's view of their nearby nuclear energy plant. "Continued plant neighbor support for...
