CVS Pays the Price for Negligence: Pharmacy Forks Over $875,000 for Selling Expired Food, Medicine and Baby Formula
New York attorney general Andrew Cuomo announced that the state has reached an agreement with CVS Pharmacy over the retailer's negligent sales of expired products, including food, medicine and baby formula. The pharmacy has agreed to pay a whopping $875,000 after investigators canvassed the state and were able to purchase expired merchandise in 60% of its 432 New York locations — and this is after CVS made a prior agreement to halt expired sales.
A CVS spokesperson said that the company is committed to keeping expired products off of store shelves, and that the settlement does not include any admission of wrongdoing, USA Today reports.
